The fields contained Blue, Purple, Harvested for the 2009 growing season! Shade variations, GROWING Lupines are perennials which blossom in June every year starting the second year And continue doing so for many years. Some plants, started from seed, Lupines will flower in late summer of their first year. Lupines like a moist area with good drainage. So never plant them where there is standing water. Banks and hillsides make excellent locations. Lupines are very hardy, and like full sun to partial shade. They do not require mulch as they are very winter hardy. There Hardy from zones 4 thru 8, In full sun lupines grow better and bloom earlier. In the partial shade there blooms will last longer.
With a height of 30"42", Lupines make good backdrops for any flower garden. Running the lawn mower to much will make you old. So along steeply sloped banks hard to reach areas in your lawn, Consider planting lupines there. Flowering lasts the entire month of June.
